Why the name BERLINGO?

Many have asked! Why the name BERLINGO?

Berlingots are adorable small & colourful candies you can find in France. Dating more than 150 years, this candy is made of melted sugar with fruity or minty flavours and the sugar is worked on to integrate classy white stripes.

Berlingots, little candies from France. Now a shop in Calgary!
.
Cut in a little “pyramid” shape, they stay at around 1cm in size traditionally. Growing up, we could also see something similar in shape but on a stick, just like a lolly-pop. If you were from a small village like I was, you only saw them when the fair came to town! It meant that we were having fun, summer was here, and we were going to enjoy some rides… along with the treat!

Chique! Berlingots' big sisters

The name has a cute and sweet connotation for us and Yann felt it was a good one for his next project: all about soft ice cream & chocolates! The shape stayed with us as well and was the beginning of the logo.
It was quite simplified, and the yellow was added in reference to Yann Haute Patisserie, being the “mother” of the little BERLINGO! The drop is for the soft serve deliciousness of course!
From an idea to a business, it takes time and dedication but thanks to you, it is a reality now!
